Tabula rasa. People have the potential to be good or the potential to be bad. They strive to be good, but under certain conditions they can also strive to be bad. Just like a dog, actually. You can raise them to be good family pets or you can raise them to be horrible guard dogs who wouldn't hesitate to rip out your throat. Fortunately, I believe that we can get more than one clean slate in life :) Just takes hard work.
