One of my biggest obsessions - Alexander the Great.
Suddenly I felt that I have to draw him, but I didn't want to make any big project. You know, I don't draw Alexander often, because I'm afraid my drawing would be terrible (the same thing is with my own characters _-_). So I decided to make a sketch of his profile. It's the most characteristic thing of all Alexander's busts.
Of course the simple sketch turned out to be a fully-shaded work, lol.
Comparing to my last bust of Alexandros, I'm really proud of this one, because he at least looks like himself. But I hate the eye - it's not *his* eye. The mouth also looks strange. But nevermind.
Time spent: Three hours, I think. Tools used: Mechanical pencil 0.35B and normal pencil 2B.
I'm always afraid of drawing characters from books I really like (I don't want to draw them ugly). So... I quess I can somehow understand what you were feeling when drawing this. ':]
There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one will see the difference
